It wasn’t just her.

We were there too.

We’re calling for legal change to recognise adults who lived through emotional or psychological abuse as children in homes with domestic violence.

Many of us grew up in homes full of fear, rage, control, and silence — without anyone laying a hand on us. But that doesn’t mean we weren’t harmed.

Now, as adults, we’ve realised — often through therapy or simply getting older — that what we went through was abuse. Because it wasn’t physical or sexual, the law doesn’t see us. We’re here to change that.

Our Three Asks

Legal recognition

Change the law to recognise adults who were emotionally or psychologically abused as children in abusive households.

Statutory guidance

Give clear direction to police, CPS, and safeguarding professionals on how to respond to adult disclosures of non-physical childhood abuse.

A route to justice

Create a safe, trauma-informed process for survivors — including safeguarding reviews, victim statements, and optional investigation
